About us

„German Mental Retardation Network“ (MRNET) is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). As an Integrated Genome Research Network (IG) it is part of the medical genome research programme (National Genome Research Network plus (NGFNplus)). The goal of the research association is to unravel the underlying genetic defects of mental retardation. The research association combines German clinical and scientific experts in mental retardation in a multicentric study. Within the network a variety of modern, genome wide genetic technologies are combined with neuro- and cell biological approaches. There is a mutual exchange of information between the network partners and data are collected in a distinct, pseudonymized study database. Regular clinical meetings, project leader meetings and telefone calls enhance synergy and the achievement of milestones.

To ensure data quality, specific committees are established by the quality management.

The MRNET research association is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research since 01.04.08 for at least three years duration.
